Other updates and changes

Android 8.0 Oreo brings many updates and removes certain features that are no longer optimised for the system:



Here are some key updates to the existing software:

  • A redesigned Content Bar or TV Menu Bar
  • Accessibility Shortcut (On/Off switch):
    1. ○ Press and hold the MUTING button on the remote control for three seconds to turn ON/OFF accessibility functions such as Screen reader or Text magnification.
  • Improved user experience for the Video, Music and Photo apps
  • Expansion to the supported formats for USB or home networks*
    1. ○ Photo: .arw (files for simple playback only)
    2. ○ Music: .ogg, .aac
    3. ○ Video: .mkv (VP9 Profile 0, Profile 2), .webm (VP9 Profile 0, Profile 2)
    4. ○ External subtitles: .sami, .txt
    *NOTE: Playback capability depends on home network server specifications.
  • Improves the user experience of the channel list presets
  • Resolves sound issues playing some specific file formats using the internal video player app
  • Restores the Program Guide’s Search by title function

  • Unfortunately, the following features are no longer compatible with this software update:

  • Task switching in the Home Screen menu
  • PlayMemories Online
  • Live Football mode function
  • Video (Home network) in the Content Bar
  • The 500px application
  • IPv6 setup (ON/OFF) setting
  • Wi-Fi Direct standby mode
  • PlayStation Video app no longer pre-installed
    1. ○ You can still access the app by downloading it from the Google Play Store
